Karnataka Braces for Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds for Next Seven Days: Bengaluru Meteorological Department Issues Warning

Bengaluru,  The Bengaluru Meteorological Department has issued a seven-day weather warning, forecasting heavy rainfall and strong winds across Karnataka from July 27 to August 2, 2025. A low-pressure system over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas is expected to move westward and weaken within the next 12 hours, influencing weather patterns in the state.

Regional Forecast: – Coastal Karnataka: Districts such as Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 27 to 29, followed by light to moderate rain from July 30 to August 2.

North Interior Karnataka: Bidar, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir may see light to moderate rainfall with strong winds (40-50 kmph) from July 27 to 29, with reduced rainfall thereafter.

South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga from July 27 to 30. Other districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Ramanagara, Chitradurga, Kolar, and Chikkaballapura, are likely to receive light to moderate rain throughout the period.

Bengaluru City Outlook: Over the next 48 hours, Bengaluru and its surrounding areas will likely experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and wind speeds of 40-50 kmph. Maximum temperatures will hover around 27°C, with minimums near 20°C.

Dr. N. Puviarasan, a scientist at the Meteorological Department, advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, stay cautious in low-lying areas, and adhere to local administration guidelines to ensure safety during this period.
