Bengaluru,
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media and certain media outlets about the implementation of new luggage rules for its buses, calling them completely baseless and misleading. In an official statement, KSRTC clarified that the rules governing the transport of passengers’ luggage or goods are not new but have been in place since November 5, 1999. The corporation permits the transport of items such as refrigerators, washing machines, truck tires, aluminum and iron pipes, utensils, cats, dogs, rabbits, etc., subject to available space in the bus. Minor revisions to fares have been made from time to time, and the facility to carry up to 30 kg of luggage free of charge has been in effect.
KSRTC further stated that a detailed circular clarifying these rules was issued on October 28, 2022. The corporation emphasized that no new luggage rules or regulations have been introduced since then. Passengers are requested to disregard unverified news and refer to KSRTC’s official sources for accurate information.
