Karnataka to Conduct Backward Classes Social and Educational Survey 2025 from September 22

The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission will launch its much-awaited Social and Educational Survey 2025, popularly known as the “caste census,” from September 22 to October 7. The massive exercise will cover more than two crore households across the state to collect crucial data on social, economic, and educational status.

How the Survey Will Work

  • House-to-House Visits: Government school teachers, trained as enumerators, will visit every household carrying official ID cards and a mobile app to record details.

  • Unique Household ID (UHID): Homes already tagged with UHID stickers by electricity meter readers should keep them intact, as they help link household data.

  • Pre-Forms by ASHAs: ASHA workers are distributing question sheets in advance, allowing families to prepare documents like Aadhaar, voter ID, ration card, and land records.

Survey Details

  • 60 Questions: Families will be asked about caste, sub-caste, religion, education, occupation, income, property, vehicles, and access to government schemes.

  • Mandatory Participation: The survey is legally binding, and all citizens must provide accurate details.

  • Online Option: Those who miss the visit can submit details online at kscbc.karnataka.gov.in. Citizens hesitant to share caste information with enumerators can also use the helpline (8050-770-004) or submit details online.

Why This Survey Matters

  • Provide the first caste-wise population count in over a decade.

  • Identify communities left out of education, jobs, and welfare schemes.

  • Fine-tune reservation policies and guarantee schemes.

  • Guide budget allocation for development and welfare.

Helpline for Support
A state-level helpline (8050-770-004) is active for queries and complaints. Citizens are urged to cooperate, as the survey findings will directly shape Karnataka’s welfare programs and budget priorities.
