New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the first-phase agreement of the Gaza ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, calling it a positive step toward lasting peace in the Middle East.

In a post on social media, Modi wrote, “I welcome the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This development marks an important step toward peace and stability in the region.”

The Prime Minister also praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his leadership and diplomatic efforts in bringing about the truce. “Commendable leadership shown by Prime Minister Netanyahu in advancing peace and ensuring security for his people,” Modi stated.

India has consistently called for restraint, dialogue, and a humanitarian approach to resolve the ongoing Israel–Palestine conflict. The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed India’s support for a two-state solution, emphasizing the importance of peace and coexistence between Israel and Palestine.

The ceasefire agreement, announced earlier by U.S. President Donald Trump, is seen as a major breakthrough after months of intense fighting that claimed tens of thousands of lives in Gaza.
