
Belagavi district is experiencing a steady rise in POCSO cases, with 12–15 reported monthly, at least four from Belagavi city alone. From 2023 to June 2025, 434 cases were registered: 157 in 2023, 180 in 2024, and 97 up to June 2025. Despite the increasing numbers, convictions remain low, with only 12 convictions in 2024 and 9 in 2025 for cases registered between 2015 and 2024. Belagavi ranks sixth in Karnataka for POCSO case registrations.
