Rahul Gandhi Meeting Was Merely Formal; No Confusion in Government or Party Decisions: Siddaramaiah
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that there was no political discussion during his meeting with Rahul Gandhi. Speaking to the media at Mysuru Airport on Monday, he said Rahul Gandhi was travelling to Gudalur to attend a programme and the meeting took place casually during the journey. He added that he would also see Rahul Gandhi off later in the evening when he departs for Delhi.
Responding to media queries on power-sharing within the party, the Chief Minister said there is no disagreement or confusion in the Congress party. He stated that such reports are fabricated by the media. When asked about statements being made by some party MLAs on the issue, Siddaramaiah said only he or Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar would speak on the matter, as MLAs do not have complete information.
He said whatever decision is taken by the party’s high command regarding power-sharing will be accepted and implemented. He also remarked that the media is discussing the issue more than the party legislators themselves.
The Chief Minister said the state government is fully prepared to conduct local body elections and expressed confidence that the BJP–JD(S) alliance would have no negative impact on the municipal polls.
Answering another question, Siddaramaiah said the state budget is likely to be presented in the first week of March.
He also informed that a Sadhana Sammavesha is being considered at Haveri on February 13 to mark the completion of 1,000 days of his tenure as Chief Minister.
On a question regarding Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s renewed activity in state politics, the Chief Minister said Kumaraswamy has recovered and is politically active, but observing his conduct and actions is the responsibility of the media, not the government.
