L&T Clarifies Road Restoration Process After Water Pipeline Works in Belagavi
Belagavi: L&T, the agency executing the Belagavi City Water Supply Project, has clarified the procedure followed for road restoration after pipeline laying and House Service Connection (HSC) works across the city. The clarification came in response to a PGRS query filed by Advocate Nitin Bolbandi.
According to the company, road restoration is undertaken only after the completion of pipeline installation and provision of house service connections. Restoration work is limited strictly to the trenches excavated during pipeline laying, in accordance with contractual provisions.
The process follows a two-stage approach. Initially, temporary restoration is carried out using suitable materials with proper compaction to ensure basic road usability. This is followed by permanent restoration, where roads are brought back to their original condition using asphalt, cement concrete (CC), or interlock pavers, depending on the type of road surface.
L&T stated that the entire restoration process may take between 15 and 30 days. During this period, the agency ensures debris clearance and dust suppression measures, including adequate water compaction of trenches, to minimise inconvenience to the public.
The company added that restoration works have already begun at multiple locations, with GPS-tagged photographic documentation being maintained for progress monitoring. Active works are currently underway in Hanuman Nagar, Bhagya Nagar, Chidamber Nagar, Mahanthesh Nagar, Old PB Road, Shri Nagar, Chennamma Society, and Kanabaragi, among other areas. Remaining localities will be covered in a phased manner based on priority.
The clarification comes amid increasing public concern over incomplete or delayed road repairs following pipeline works in several parts of the city.
