Naseer Ahmed Removed from Post, Political Stir in Karnataka Congress
Loyalty Rewarded or Internal Rift? Concern Among Minority Leadership
In the backdrop of the recent by-elections in Karnataka, the rapidly changing political situation within the Congress party has created unease, particularly among minority leaders. Even before the announcement of results, key decisions are being taken within the party, most notably the removal of MLC Naseer Ahmed from the post of Political Secretary to the Chief Minister.

According to sources, Naseer Ahmed had been given time to resign from the post. However, after failing to submit his resignation within the stipulated deadline, he was removed. Following this move, a wave of concern has spread among minority leaders and workers of the Congress across the state, while political circles are actively debating the decision.
It may be recalled that earlier, K. Abdul Jabbar, Chairman of the Minority Department and an MLC, was reportedly targeted over allegations of not actively campaigning for the party candidate in the Davanagere South Assembly by-election. Anticipating action, he resigned from his post, which was accepted by the party leadership.
Naseer Ahmed is regarded as an experienced and loyal Congress leader. Political observers note that he has played a significant role in strengthening the party on various occasions, particularly in mobilizing minority communities in its favor. His efforts helped reinforce Muslim leadership across several districts, benefiting the party electorally.
Analysts believe such decisions come at a time when minority communities in the state are becoming increasingly active regarding political representation and rights. Demands—especially from the Muslim community—for the restoration of 4% reservation and proportional representation have been gaining momentum.
The political tension that arose following demands to field a Muslim candidate in the Davanagere South constituency now appears to be reflecting within the party’s internal affairs. Some observers warn that continued dissatisfaction among minority leadership could negatively impact the party in upcoming elections.
Overall, the removal of Naseer Ahmed has sparked a fresh political debate in Karnataka, with its implications likely to become clearer in the coming days.
