State Backward Classes Commission Issues Warning

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission has warned that criminal cases will be filed against those who create and circulate false information on social and educational survey data through social media platforms.

In a press statement, Commission Member-Secretary K.A. Dayananda said that, as per the High Court’s order dated September 25, the Commission has been instructed to maintain strict confidentiality and prevent any leakage of information and data collected during the social and educational survey. Accordingly, the Commission has submitted an affidavit to the High Court confirming compliance with these directions.

He further stated that the Commission bears full responsibility and commitment to safeguard the confidentiality of the survey information and data, and necessary measures have already been taken in this regard.

Dayananda revealed that criminal proceedings have already been initiated against individuals who shared false population figures of various communities on WhatsApp under the title “2025 Karnataka State Caste Census Report.”

He urged the public not to create or share any such false or misleading information that may cause confusion among citizens, and advised people to remain cautious and refrain from forwarding unverified content.
