Cadre Rule Amendments Initiated to Promote Doctors in AYUSH Department: Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao; 95 Senior Posts to Be Filled
Belagavi, December 18 :
The state government has initiated the process of amending cadre and recruitment rules to promote Medical Officers to the posts of Senior Medical Officers in the AYUSH Department, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said.
Responding to a question raised by Basavangudi MLA Ravi Subramanya L.A. during Question Hour in the Assembly amid the ongoing winter session in Belagavi, the minister informed the House of the decision.
According to Minister Gundu Rao, a total of 95 posts will be filled through promotions from Medical Officer to Senior Medical Officer in the AYUSH Department. These include 65 Ayurveda doctors, 15 Unani doctors, 12 Homeopathy doctors, and 3 doctors from Naturopathy and Yoga.
He said that while 116 Senior Medical Officer posts are sanctioned in the department, several positions have remained vacant for the past six to seven years due to the absence of timely promotions.
The minister clarified that the formal promotion process will begin only after the necessary amendments to the cadre and recruitment rules related to time-bound promotions, to ensure fairness to AYUSH doctors and strengthen administrative efficiency.
He assured that once the amendments are completed, the promotion process will be carried out expeditiously.
