DC Mohammad Roshan directs officials to ensure flawless preparations

Belagavi, November 12:
A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Winter Session of the Karnataka State Legislature—to be held in December at Belagavi—was convened on Wednesday (Nov 12) at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Chairing the meeting, District Commissioner Mohammad Roshan instructed officials and sub-committees to ensure that, like previous years, the session is conducted in an orderly and efficient manner.

He said that various sub-committees have been formed to handle different aspects of the event, and each must discharge its responsibilities diligently to avoid any lapses in arrangements.

Focus on Security and Facilities
Roshan directed that entry passes for officers and staff attending the session should be issued in coordination with the police department, keeping security considerations in mind.
Like in previous years, separate dining arrangements should be made for officers, staff, and marshals on the ground floor of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Additionally, a paid canteen should be set up outside the building.

Protest and Medical Arrangements
Suitable locations should be identified at the earliest for public demonstrations during the session. Drinking water and other basic facilities must be provided at these designated protest sites.
Ambulances and medical teams should be deployed at places where the Chief Minister, Ministers, and MLAs will be staying. Similarly, Suvarna Vidhana Soudha and its premises should have medical personnel and ambulance services available. Food safety officers must also be assigned.

Transport and Communication Systems
Adequate transport facilities should be arranged for ministers, legislators, officers, and staff, ensuring all vehicles are in good condition.
Preparations must also be made for cultural programmes to be held during the session.
The DC emphasized that there should be no disruption in telephone or internet services during the session, and that steps must be taken to prevent any network issues within the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

Police Commissioner’s Statement
Police Commissioner Gulabrao Bhushan Borse said that during the distribution of entry passes for visitors coming to witness the session, necessary identity documents should be collected for security purposes. Entry to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha will be allowed only after verifying valid passes, he added.

Officials Present
The meeting was attended by District Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhimashankar Guled, Zilla Panchayat CEO Rahul Shinde, IAS Probationary Officer Abhinav Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar Honakeri, and several officials from different departments, including heads of transport, catering, accommodation, and other sub-committees.
