Members of the Bharatiya Telecom Mazdoor Sangh staged a protest in Belagavi on Wednesday, urging authorities to fulfill various demands of the new telecom contractors. Following the protest, they submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner.
The union demanded that all workers who lost their jobs after the new contractors took charge should be immediately reinstated. They emphasized that no worker should be removed from service for participating in union activities.
The memorandum also sought legal benefits such as a weekly rest day, national and festival holidays, an 8-hour duty limit, and fair overtime pay.

Union leaders further demanded that all workers be provided with medical and accident insurance, and in the event of death during duty, the deceased worker’s family should be compensated with ₹25 lakh. They also insisted that all field staff be supplied with necessary safety equipment on time.
They urged Indus Towers to ensure that all contract workers under its contractors receive legal protection and fair treatment. The union warned that if fair wage revision and equal pay for all are not implemented soon, they would launch a statewide agitation.
Among those present were Satish Nilajkar, Bhagwant Mane Shinde, Sunil Bommanahalli, and Shankar Gurubasappagoud, along with several other members of the union.
