Karnataka Assembly’s Eighth Session Adjourned Indefinitely; Supplementary Budget Passed, 23 Bills Approved
Belagavi, December 19 :
The eighth session of the 16th Karnataka Legislative Assembly was held from December 8 to December 19, 2025, at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi. The 10-day session ran for a total of 57 hours and 35 minutes.
At the start of the session, the House passed condolence resolutions for prominent personalities who died recently. A report on bills that received the Governor’s approval was also presented.
The second installment of the supplementary budget for the year 2025–26 was presented on December 17 and approved on December 19. The state’s mid-term financial review report was tabled on December 18.
Four reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) were placed before the House. These included reports on government spending and accounts for 2024–25, the PM Khanij Kalyan Yojana, sector-wise audit reports, and a report on the Integrated Power Development Scheme.
During the session, 22 bills were introduced, and a total of 23 bills, including the Karnataka Land Revenue (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, were passed.
A special discussion on the development of North Karnataka lasted for more than 17 hours, with 39 MLAs taking part. The House received 2,109 questions, most of which were answered. Several issues were also raised during Zero Hour and Calling Attention notices.
On December 18, the Assembly unanimously passed several resolutions. These included demands to set up an AIIMS in Raichur, shift central institutions to North and Kalyana Karnataka, resolve the Mahadayi and Krishna river water disputes, provide more central funds for regional development, protect farmers’ interests, and include state reservation laws in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
The House thanked the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, MLAs, media, district administration, police, and Assembly staff for the smooth conduct of the session. New Year 2026 greetings were also extended to the people.
The Assembly was adjourned indefinitely after the National Anthem.
