Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday reiterated that the government remains committed to strengthening economically and socially weaker sections and will continue welfare schemes for the poor, women, Dalits, minorities and backward communities.

Speaking to the media at the helipad located in the Government Medical College premises in Haveri, the Chief Minister said the current gathering was not merely a symbolic “thousand days” event but a reflection of the government fulfilling promises made to the people. He stated that the government has been implementing its commitments and will continue on the same path.

Responding to criticism from the BJP over the event, Siddaramaiah alleged that the opposition was driven by jealousy and claimed that the BJP had failed to deliver significant achievements during its four-year tenure. He further said the BJP lacked moral authority to criticise, alleging that less than 10 percent of the 600 promises made in 2018 were fulfilled, while the Congress government has completed 243 out of 592 promises within two-and-a-half years and is working to fulfil the remaining ones.

The Chief Minister also dismissed allegations by MP B.Y. Raghavendra that the Congress government had failed to keep its promises, calling the claims baseless.

On questions related to power-sharing, Siddaramaiah said the party leadership’s decision would be final and all members must abide by it, adding that he had already addressed the issue earlier. Regarding being summoned to Delhi, he said he would go if called by the leadership.

Addressing opposition in Uttara Kannada district to the Bedti–Varada river linking project, he said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted to the Centre and the final decision rests with the Union government, though he expressed little confidence in timely action by the Centre.

He added that the social and educational survey report will be presented soon, after which the government will take appropriate decisions.
