Bengaluru: Amid the New Year celebrations, the State Government has carried out major changes in the police department. On Wednesday, orders were issued promoting 48 IPS officers and transferring Superintendents of Police (SPs) in various districts, along with Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in Bengaluru City.
As part of this major reshuffle, 23 officers have been promoted and appointed to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), while two officers have been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IG). In addition, SPs and DCPs in key districts including Bengaluru City, Belagavi, Mysuru, Mandya, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Raichur have been transferred.


Key Promotions


Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah has been appointed as Inspector General of Police (IG), Southern Range (Mysuru).


Ajay Hilori, Additional Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Crime Branch, has been promoted to IG and continued in the same post.


Dr. Bhimashankar Guled has been promoted and appointed as DIG, CID (Economic Offences).


D.R. Sirigowri has been promoted as DIG, Karnataka Lokayukta.


Abdul Ahad, Director (Security and Vigilance), BMTC, has been promoted as DIG, and the post has been upgraded.

Several officers have been promoted to the rank of DIG and posted in various wings, including: CID (Economic Offences), State Intelligence, Wireless, Internal Security Division, State Human Rights Commission, Police Training Division, Home Guards, KSRP, Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Prisons, Railways, State Crime Records Bureau, Karnataka Police Academy, Traffic and Road Safety, Cyber Command, and the Special Action Force.

The government stated that these transfers and promotions are part of an administrative reorganisation aimed at strengthening law and order and improving policing efficiency across the state.
