Ballary, January 1, 2026 – Tension erupted in Ballary district when supporters of two local MLAs clashed, resulting in the death of a Congress worker and injuries to several others. The incident took place during a dispute over putting up banners at the unveiling of a Valmiki statue.
According to reports, a heated argument broke out between supporters of Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy from Ballary City and Gali Janardhan Reddy, the MLA from Gangaotri. The verbal confrontation quickly escalated into pushing, stone-throwing, and violence. People from both sides sustained injuries, and panic spread in the area.

Eyewitnesses said that amid efforts to control the situation, shots were also fired, heightening tensions in the locality. Police rushed additional forces to the scene and worked to bring the situation under control. Authorities stated that a full investigation is underway and that strict action will be taken against those responsible. Security has been tightened to maintain law and order.
Political activities had already been at a high level due to the Valmiki statue unveiling, but the dispute over hanging banners turned serious. The administration appealed to the public to remain peaceful and avoid spreading rumors.
